Southwest Airlines Co. reported disappointing traffic numbers for September on a couple of key metrics.

Dallas-based Southwest’s (NYSE: LUV) revenue passenger miles, which measures air traffic, fell 4.5 percent year over year to 9.5 billion last month. Available seat miles, which measures capacity, decreased 1.6 percent to 11.61 billion.

The September 2017 load factor — the percentage of seats filled by passengers — was 81.7 percent, compared with 84.2 percent in September 2016.
